On behalf of the new ownership team of the former Fireman’s Fund campus, we are pleased to share an important first step in the process to reimagine the site. Since we purchased the property earlier this year, we have been studying all of the unique features of the 63-acre site to create an initial conceptual plan to shape its redevelopment.
Today, we are pleased to begin this long-term process with a preliminary plan that will allow us to collect meaningful feedback from the community and City of Novato. The vision is to transform the large, vacant office site into a new neighborhood with a diverse mix of housing types, vibrant public amenity spaces, and improved connections to the existing open space network.
A key aspect of the plan is to concentrate the site’s redevelopment within the footprint of the existing office campus, allowing the new development to preserve and enhance the vast greenbelt areas along the perimeter of the site. The concept centers on a thoughtful integration that features single-family homes along the western portion of the property, a transition to townhomes within the project’s core, and new multifamily apartments alongside Redwood Boulevard. Green space and pedestrian corridors connecting to nearby open space and flex community programming or possible neighborhood retail are also envisioned throughout the property.
While we remain very early in the process, we are excited to begin the conversation to bring much-needed housing and new public amenities to the community. We are conducting outreach in the coming weeks and months to collect public input on the conceptual plan and we look forward to hearing from you as we create the next chapter for this property.
